The selection of the sound source and the adjustment of the high and low tones are all completed by the power amplifier. And the speaker is only responsible for the sound. In the discussion of speakers, there is no special note, generally speaking are passive speakers. Passive speakers can be matched with different brands and different types of power amplifiers. It can be more flexible matching.

Active Speaker:

Active speakers, as the name implies, contain a power drive unit. There is a driving source. That is, on the basis of the passive speaker, the power supply, power amplifier circuit, tuning circuit, and even decoding circuit are all put into the speaker. Active speakers can be simply understood as passive speakers and amplifier integration.

The active speaker includes a wooden box, a high-low speaker unit and internal sound-absorbing cotton, an internal power and power amplifier board, and an internal tuning circuit. Similarly, in the external interface, active speakers and passive speakers are also very different. Since the source speaker integrates the power amplifier circuit, the external input is usually 3.5mm audio port, red and black lotus socket, coaxial or optical interface. The signal received by the active speaker is a low-power low-voltage analog signal. For example, our mobile phone can directly access the source speaker through 3.5mm recording line, and you can enjoy the shocking sound effect. For example, the computer audio output port, or the lotus interface of the set-top box, can be directly active speakers.

The advantage of the active speaker is to remove amplifier, the amplifier occupy more of space, and the active speaker integrated amplifier circuit. It saves a lot of space. Due to the fact that the source speaker occupies the box space, and the box space is limited, it cannot integrate the traditional power supply and circuit, so most of the source speakers are D class amplifier circuits.
