Nowadays, there are two common types of speakers on the market: plastic speakers and wooden speakers, so both materials actually have their own advantages.
Plastic speakers have a relatively low cost, lightweight weight, and strong plasticity. They are gorgeous and unique in appearance, but also because they are made of plastic, they are relatively easy to damage, have a defective lifespan, and have poor sound absorption performance. However, it does not mean that plastic speakers are low-end. Some well-known foreign brands also use plastic materials in high-end products, which can also produce good sound.
Wooden speaker boxes are heavier than plastic ones and are less prone to distortion of sound due to vibration. They have better damping characteristics and softer sound quality. Most of the low priced wooden boxes nowadays use medium density fiber as the box material, while the high priced ones mostly use genuine pure wood as the box material. High density pure wood can reduce the resonance generated by the speaker during operation and restore natural sound.
From this, it can be seen that a large part of the material selection of the speaker box will also affect the sound quality and timbre of the speaker.
