On May 13th, the old Japanese audio equipment manufacturer ONKYO (Onkyo) issued an announcement on its official website, saying that the company is applying for bankruptcy procedures to the Osaka District Court, with a total debt of about 3.1 billion yen.
According to the announcement, Onkyo was insolvent for two consecutive times in March 2021 and decided to terminate the listing. In order to keep the company going, Onkyo transferred its home video business to Sharp and VOXX, while e. onkyo Music was transferred to Xandrie of France, which operates high-definition streaming Qobuz. The remaining domestic sales business and OEM business were operated with difficulty by its subsidiaries Onkyo Sound and Onkyo Marketing, but they ceased operations in February 2022 due to financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy in March.
Onkyo, which sticks to the high-end professional market, has plummeted in recent years. Even after the bankruptcy of the subsidiary, Onkyo still intends to continue to operate on a small scale with the handling fees brought by the transfer of the home audio and video business. In the end, it was unable to prevent the deterioration of capital turnover and filed for bankruptcy
It can be seen that, in line with market demand, customer demand, and creating audio products that meet the listening needs of the broad audience can continue to occupy a place in today's society;
